Belvai May 26, 2024: Belvai church was filled with joy and laughter today as it hosted first ever Senior's Day celebration in the parish. The day began with a special Eucharistic mass led by Rev. Fr Joseph Alphonse Cardoza and Rev. Fr Titus Lobo. Fr Cardoza's homily focused on the wisdom and strength that seniors bring to the community, highlighting their lifelong dedication and service.
The Eucharistic celebration was followed by a delightful program in the church hall. This event was jointly hosted by the Family Commission, Parish Council & Catholic Sabha Belvai Unit.
The program began with a prayer song. Catholic Sabha Belvai President Steevan Tauro welcomed the guests and the gathering. The event, dedicated to honoring the senior members of the community, drew a remarkable crowd and featured a variety of activities designed to entertain and appreciate the church's older generation.
Felicitation for 1 of each senior member of the 7 wards was held. Two senior couples of our parish were also felicitated. Senior memebers who had served in the past Parish Councils & Presidents of various organizations were also honored.
Br. Shailesh Lobo conducted fun games. Neetha Fernandes presented an inspiring poem dedicated to seniors of our parish. The remix dance performance by females of the catholic sabha & parish council enthralled the audience.
Two seniors shared their views on hosting Seniors Day and they thanked & appreciated the collective effort of organizers and well-wishers for organizing a memorable event.
The Seniors Day was not just a celebration but a testament to the community's respect and love for its elders. The celebration ended with a sumptuous lunch.
Rev. Fr Joseph Alphonse Cardoza, Vice President Lavina Cardoza, Secretary Jacintha Rego, 21 Pastoral Commissions Convenor Veera Pereira, Sr Jacintha Lasrado, Family Commission Secretary Blanch Salis, Br Shailesh Lobo, Catholic Sabha Belvai President Steevan Tauro were present on the dais.
David Dmello compered the program, and Blanch Salis proposed vote of thanks.
