Holy Week celebrated with devotion



Belvai March 31, 2024: Faithfuls gathered at church and participated in solemn rituals and prayers conducted during the Holy Week- Maundy Thursday, Good Friday & Holy Saturday.

Maundy Thursday: This day marks the commemoration of the institution of the Holy Eucharist by Jesus Christ and celebrates the historic Last Supper, before which Jesus washed the feet of his 12 disciples, a day before the Passover. Parish priest Rev. Fr Joseph Alphonse Cardoza symbolically washed the feet of 12 chosen parishioners and led the Holy Eucharist. Br. Shailesh Lobo conducted the adoration.

Good Friday: This Holy day commenced with solemnity, marking the Passion of the Saviour. Faithful congregated in the church to observe Good Friday with devotion and to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Way of Cross was held in the morning. And the passion of Christ in the afternoon. Unveiling and Veneration of the Cross is an integral part of the Good Friday ceremony

Holy Saturday: Easter Vigil Mass, marking the culmination of the Holy Week and the anticipation of Easter Sunday- The Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The faithful engaged in prayers, hymns, and readings, reflecting on the significance of the resurrection and its profound message of hope and renewal. As part of the candlelight ceremonies, the Pascal candle and fire and holy water were blessed.
